A lifelong resident of Central New York, Bill Magnarelli and his wife, Karen, raised their three children in Syracuse and have a long and proud history of community service and dedication.
Before his election to the State Assembly in 1998, Bill Magnarelli served on the Syracuse Common Council as Majority Leader. He also served the community as a member of the board of the Arthritis Foundation and was president of Our Lady of Pompei Church Parish Council. Bill attended both Syracuse University and Syracuse University College of Law. A practicing attorney since 1973, Bill Magnarelli was also a member of the U.S. Army Reserves, completing his service with the 1209th U.S. Army Garrison, Mattydale in 1979 with the rank of Captain.
In the State Assembly, Bill Magnarelli serves as Chair of the Veterans' Affairs Committee. He previously served as Chair of the Ethics Committee and as Chair of the Task Force on University-Industry Cooperation.
