Making sure Central New York families feel safe is one of the jobs of New York State legislators. Two bills I authored and sponsored create safety systems for families in times of crisis.
- Amber Alert is an alert system that uses the media and law enforcement to notify the public immediately when a child is kidnapped. This life-saving program has been state-wide since 2002.
- Gold Alert establishes an alert system for missing vulnerable adults who have cognitive impairments. Law enforcement and the media would send out alerts within 24 hours. This bill, which unanimously passed the Senate and the Assembly, received the backing of AARP and the Alzheimer’s Association.
