Saving Seniors Money
Assemblyman Magnarelli has supported legislation and State Budgets that provide financial relief to seniors on fixed incomes including:
- Provides property tax relief in the form of rebate checks for homeowners and tax credits for renters.
- Cutting the energy tax on utility bills.
- Expanded eligibility for the Elderly Pharmaceutical Insurance Coverage (EPIC) program to help lower the cost of prescription medications.
- Protecting you from surprise medical bills if you are unknowingly treated by an out-of-network doctor.
- Protecting “Spousal Refusal” to protect your property and life savings if a spouse is forced to seek long-term care in a nursing home through Medicaid.
- Supporting funding for Adult-Day Services and other community health supports to keep people in their homes.

Created the “Secure Choice Savings Program”, a voluntary-enrollment payroll deduction IRA for employees of private employers that lack a retirement savings program. This program allows New Yorkers who have no employer-sponsored plan to have funds automatically deducted from their paychecks and placed into a retirement account. The program is voluntary for employees and employers.
SENIOR CITIZENS
